Scotland really is a great destination for those people who love to explore nature. With so many amazing places to see and walk around, it is no wonder that a big chunk of those who come to Scotland, do so for the walks.
With this in mind we have put together some of the most popular coastal walks in Scotland, a must do list for you to try out for yourself.
Found not too far from John O Groats, Dunnet Head is the most northerly part of the Scottish mainland. Seen as the ideal walk for those that love to take in the wild, the rugged and the pretty dramatic. Here you will not only get out of breath but thanks to the clifftop walk you will also be able to take in views of the sea towards Orkney!
Found in Sutherland, which is again not too far away from us, Handa Island is a magical place to go. A nature reserve, it features an idyllic sandy beach and a whole variety of birdlife that you can capture on camera. The cliffs around the island are completely sheer in some places, which means that you need to take it easy when heading out on this walk, but the end result is definitely worth the effort!
One of the most northern of the Orkney Isles, this particular island has a number of beautiful sandy beaches for you to spend the day on. However, if you find yourself bored and want to find out more about this fascinating island then you will be pleased to know that there are a number of amazing walks that you can take. One of our most favourite is the walk around the southeastern coastline. Not only will you find clifftop scenery that is sure to impress, but you will also find an arch that is a popular place to stop and take a photograph.
