MACKAYS HOTEL BECOMES A WHISKY EMBASSY
Murray Lamont of Mackays Hotel has always been passionate about whisky, evidenced by the choice of whiskies in the bar. When the hotel was given the opportunity to become a Whisky Embassy Murray was delighted.
Murray, who passed the The Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre exams with a Merit, stated ‘my interest in the history of whisky and its production started many years ago. We have laid personal casks down with Pulteney Distillery over the years and take great pride in serving our own personal Old Pulteney in the hotel along with our specially branded No 1 Ebenezer Place whisky’.
Mackays Hotel is now one of the hotels specially selected by ScotlandWhisky. These hotels have a great selection of whiskies and staff trained in appreciating Whisky. Chris Conway of Whisky Heritage commented ‘With Murray’s obvious enthusiasm for Scotch Whisky and Mackays’ longstanding relationship with Old Pulteney distillery, their membership of the Embassy network is truly a welcome addition. The hotel has a super range of Scotch Whisky and, thanks to Murray’s endeavors, a knowledgeable team. We are looking forward to working with them”
Whisky Tasting Experiences were enjoyed by Mackays Hotel customers during the Scottish Food Fortnight last year and Murray said ‘We will be holding more special events in the future and one to celebrate the Embassy status’.
