Our Bond-themed charity ball that took place on 7th November has raised thousands of pounds for three local charities.
The event at Mackays Hotel was arranged to mark the launch of the latest Bond movie Spectre and to raise money for SiMBA (Simpson’s Memory Box Appeal), Wick RNLI and Caithness and Sutherland Women’s Aid.
Guests, dressed up like stars for the evening, were treated to a four course meal, live entertainment and a James Bond special ‘shaken not stirred’ Martini. Through their generosity and that of local businesses that donated raffle and auction prizes, the ball raised over £4,000, which will be split equally among the three charities.
Murray Lamont, Owner of Mackays Hotel and Chairman of Wick RNLI said: “The event exceeded all of our expectations in terms of the money we were able to raise and we need to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes and to our guests on the night.
“It’s a great honor and pleasure to be able to host an event like this and to give something back to our local community. The charity ball is something we have done now for a number of years and each year we choose a different charity. The charities chosen this year are close to our hearts.”
