Here at Mackays we love being the venue of choice for a number of weddings throughout the year. The majority of weddings happen during the summer months, when the sun is shining and the world is awash with colour. However, for some people the lure of a winter wedding outshines the idea of a summer one.
There is something beautiful, dramatic and enchanting about a winter wedding, especially those that have the backdrop of the Highlands of Scotland.
So, if you are considering a winter wedding for 2017/2018 why not take a look at our top tips for how to make sure you have the most beautiful winter wedding ever?
Just because the flowers may not be blooming outside, that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on having beautiful flowers on your wedding day. In fact, the flowers that you pick can really make your winter wedding.
We love the classic feel of red roses, especially if you contrast these with white roses, white tulips or white berries. However, you should never underestimate the power of deep purple shades too. Which can also give a wintery and dramatic feel to your floral arrangement.
Decorations can form an important part of your wedding ceremony and reception. One of the best ideas that we have seen are pine cones. Not only are they stunning in their natural form, but they can also be given extra special touches if you spray them with metallic paints or sparkles.
Another simple way to give your wedding reception a wintery feel are tea-lights that are placed in jam jars. Especially if those jam jars are also given a touch of winter sparkle.
Whilst the most traditional wedding toasting drink is champagne, winter can give you the chance to mix things up a bit. Mulled wine or spiced cider are great for not only winter toasting, but also to make the whole venue smell great too.
If you are not sure about these, why not create your very own winter-themed cocktails. Rich cranberry flavours are great for winter drinks, as is butterscotch.
Creating the favours to give your guests is your chance to express your own creativity. So, why not use your winter wedding to create winter themed favours? Some of the best that we have seen include mini snow globes, snowflake soap and miniature bottles of winter warming booze too! The choices really are endless.
These are just some of the ideas that you can put in place for your winter wedding, why not see what creative, crafty and stunning themes you can create yourself?
