Introducing the first tour of Mackays Umbrella: John O’ Groats!
Everyone knows that summer is the time to relax and live life on the edge.
Tour John O’ Groats and tip your toes over the edge of Scotland for the ultimate highland summer experience.
John O’ Groats is only a twenty-minute journey from Mackays Hotel and allows adventurers to wander to the most northerly point of mainland Scotland.
In addition to excellent photo opportunities, the area is of great importance to Mackays Hotel who source ingredients for their No.1 Bistro from local producers in this area.
Once the appropriate number of selfies have been taken beside the signature post marking the Northerly point, there are a variety of activities for the family to indulge in. Lead an exhibition to Duncansby Head and witness the breath-taking views of Duncansby Stacks and the north-east sea coast, a beautiful landmark for a day outing and picnic.
If you’d rather save your legs, we recommend hopping on the John o Groats ferry and touring the Orkney islands. There are several day tours available to meet your schedule. They all offer the chance to visit untouched historical sites such as the standing stones of Orkney and Skara Brae, Europe’s best preserved Neolithic village.
When your exploration comes to an end, we invite you to frequent our No.1 Bistro and enjoy the variety of flavours on your plate and envision the wild landscapes from which your ingredients have originated.
