Learn about the area in some of the Heritage Centres
There is a whole host of amazing heritage centres scattered around the Caithness area, each one giving an insight into the rich culture and history of the area. If the weather isn’t looking too great then these are the ideal places to escape to and spend some time learning about the local history too.
Watch a film
Sometimes the best way to escape the weather is to lose yourself in a good film. For those that are looking for the latest blockbusters, you can buy tickets to head to Thurso Cinema. Not only will you find plenty to see here, but it is also the most Northerly complex in the UK mainland too, which is a great claim to fame.
Take in some art
St Fergus Gallery is a great place to escape if you are a fan of art. This gallery features a wide range of different styles, including crafts, photography and also sculptures. All ideal if you are looking for a place to spend a couple of hours admiring amazing art!
Enjoy some delicious food

Grab your wellies and brave it
Sometimes you just have to resign yourself that you need to carry on, regardless of the weather. If you are feeling that you need to get some fresh air, then we highly recommend pulling on your wellies and raincoat, getting that umbrella up and just simply heading out. There are some beautiful places to explore in the area that looks all the more dramatic in the rain. Which means that you can soon find the perfect place to take in the natural scenery, and forget all about the rain!
