After completing a summer placement at our hotel last year as an intern, Francisco was delighted to come back and spend another year with us as a Marketing graduate. And we are happy to having him back!
Over the next year, Francisco will be taking part in the ScotGrad graduate scheme, where he will complete a series of projects that benefit both Mackays and the Highland region.
As part of this, Francisco was able to spend a few days with other graduates undertaking placements throughout the region at a training course in Cromarty.
This experience was developed by the Highland and Islands Enterprise, who created this fantastic initiative to encourage young people to work and stay in this stunning area of Scotland.
Francisco thoroughly enjoyed the four day program, discovering opportunities to develop a wide range of skills; from strategic, planning to selling and presentation skills.
On last day of the course, Francisco delivered his presentation and Ellie was right there to support him!
Francisco said, ‘I was nervous about the presentation, especially presenting to the panel of judges’. Ellie thought he did a great job and no nervousness showed!
Overall, Francisco found the experience exciting and enjoyed expending some time with other graduates, learning about their projects and experiences.
Now that he has returned to us in Wick, he is eager to put his learning to use for his project work!
He thinks the most valuable aspect of working at Mackays Hotel is the freedom that he is given to develop his own ideas, which he has stated allows him to make a valuable contribution to both Mackays and the Caithness community.
We are proud he is enjoying working at our hotel and we hope he gets the most from this experience and enjoys his time in this fantastic area of Scotland.
Stay tuned for further updates of Francisco’s time with us at Mackays and updates on upcoming student development opportunities.
