It’s getting Fruity in Caithness
This week we are proud to introduce our first local supplier of our monthly series, Caithness Summer Fruits!
Growing soft fruits since 1992 and preserves in 2003 the Caithness based family business produce a berrylicious selection ranging from your traditional favourites to the more elusive fruits such as gooseberries and loganberries. All the preserves that you enjoy are homemade by proud owner Trisha Sutherland and are delivered daily to Mackays.
Once upon a GranBerry
Behind every wonder lies a remarkable story and the natural goodness behind Caithness Summer Fruits is no exception.
For Trisha, providing natural summer goodness through food is not just a career, it’s a passion. Fond of wide-open spaces and long summer days, one of Trisha’s favourite places in Caithness is her own garden, where a personal collection of GranBerries are cared for.
The love for these seasonal fruits is shared by all in Trisha’s family, who are more than happy to lend a helping hand! Known by her grandchildren as ‘Granny Berry’, Trisha’s family nickname quickly stuck – providing the inspiration behind the firm’s Granberries.
If you fancy grabbing some for yourself, you can visit Caithness Summer Fruits every Saturday at the Wick market. Here you can find fresh fruit is available from mid-May to September depending on seasonal weather and frozen fruit all year round! Additional goodies such as marmalades for Rock Rose Gin and Christmas pudding are also available, ensuring that your fruity needs are catered for all year around!
