With the Scottish Highlands being named as one of Lonely Planet’s ‘Best In Travel’ destinations of 2019, eight famous Highland distilleries are proud to introduce a brand-new Whisky Festival, celebrating the established Highland Whisky Trail.
Taking place between 10th to 17th May 2019, the festival will celebrate the region’s finest distilleries along the North Coast 500 route.
With a collection of Balblair, Clynelish, Glenmorangie, Old Pulteney, The Dalmore, The Singleton of Glen Ord, Tomatin and Wolfburn, this experience is unmissable for even the most seasoned of whisky enthusiasts.
The Festival brings together these fine distilleries, with each opening its doors and hosting exclusive events, tastings and tours.
In addition to hosting the Smallest Street in the world, Caithness is blessed to be the home of two out of these eight distilleries – Old Pulteney and Wolfburn.
10th May – Wolfburn distillery
Operating as the most Northerly distillery in mainland Scotland, Wolfburn’s range creates a palatable adventure, unveiling the mysteries of the Nordic Highlands. This May, they are opening their doors for intimate tours of the distillery and a special bottling in celebration of the festival.
11th May – Old Pulteney
This May, Old Pulteney will be opening their doors for a series of behind-the-scenes tours of the distillery – with each tour finishing with a wee sample of their most infamous dram, the 12-Year-Old!
If you prefer a more in-depth experience, Distillery Manager, Malcolm Waring, is hosting a masterclass run exclusively for the Highland Whisky Festival. This Masterclass will allow guest to learn more about Old Pulteney and sample some of Malcolm’s favourite drams in one of the distillery’s private warehouses – a privilege not open to the general public!
The last of the special features includes the introduction of ‘Pulteney Pairings’ an exclusive tasting masterclass which includes five whiskies with food pairings.
Never one to miss a celebration, Mackays are proud to announce our own addition to this year’s Highland Whisky Festival!
