This month Mackays are proud to introduce our summer sweet July edition malt, the Glengoyne 10-year-old. As one of the only Scottish whiskies to be distilled from entirely unpeated malt – the dram is allowed to dry naturally before fermentation and distillation, resulting in an elegant flavour of fresh green apples and toffee.
This soft, sweet single malt is a Gold Medal winner at the 2007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
So how would one incorporate this award-winning malt into a meal at the Bistro?
Well, due to the unique flavours of the malt there are several food pairings available across our menu to ensure that your meal is dramtastic!
Experience clean apple tones when sampling oysters, any of our dishes comprised of mushrooms also make for a great accompaniment to the malt – with the earthiness of the mushrooms enhancing he nutty flavours behind the malt.
If like us, you like to save the best for last, the Glengoyne makes for a great post meal treat and pairs exquisitely with sweet fudge!
