Statement of Fair Work Criteria

Our Commitment to Fair Work

At Mackays Hotel, we are committed to advancing Fair Work principles as part of our core values and approach to employment. We recognise that our team members are our greatest asset, and we strive to create a workplace where everyone is valued, respected, and has opportunities to develop and progress.

Our Fair Work Commitments:
We are actively working towards meeting the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First criteria by:

  • Paying the Real Living Wage: We are committed to ensuring all our employees receive fair pay that reflects the real cost of living, and we are working towards Real Living Wage accreditation.
  • Effective Voice: We provide both individual and collective opportunities for our team to be heard. We maintain open communication channels, encourage feedback through our ‘Stop, Start, Continue’ review process, and ensure all voices are listened to and acted upon. We operate a “You Said, We Did” approach to demonstrate how employee input shapes our workplace.
  • Security of Employment: We offer transparent contracts, flexible working arrangements to suit individual circumstances, and equal pay regardless of gender.
  • Opportunity: We provide apprenticeship and graduate opportunities, comprehensive induction programmes with buddy support, and ongoing training and development for all staff members.
  • Fulfilment and Respect: We foster a supportive workplace culture where every team member can develop their skills, have autonomy in their role, and be treated with dignity and respect.

This commitment has been developed and agreed jointly between management and our workforce representatives, and we regularly review our progress to ensure we continue to improve as a fair employer.
