Lyth Arts Centre in Lyth, near Wick, is the most northerly arts centre on the UK mainland. It hosts a programme of live performances, exhibitions and other arts events from February to December each year. Located in an old Victorian school building, completely refurbished on the inside. Facilities include a 60-seat studio theatre, exhibition space and also a public café bar on site.
We had a much needed break for 4 nights last week at Mackays in Wick The decent sized apartment was perfect for us and our two dogs and it was warm, safe and an excellent base for exploring Caithness. The Hotel is very well organised with regard to Covid restrictions, but this does not spoil the warm and friendly atmosphere and the owners are superb hosts. Breakfast is really tasty and served efficiently and the food in the restaurant is impressive, best polished off with a local dram from the bar
About the centre
Artist and musician, William Wilson, founded Lyth Arts Centre 1977. Over time, it has grown from an art gallery into an exciting hub for arts events and exhibitions. The programme, which runs from February to December, presents live shows from small-scale touring companies, including high-quality drama and a wide range of musical genres. Plus, a selection of carefully curated art exhibitions.

Lyth Art Centre also takes part in many local arts projects, and hosts festivals and events in the community. Such as the Northern Lights Festival in 2021 and the Northern Stories Festival in 2022.
