Enjoy the scenery and course at Golspie Golf Club
Stunning views and a challenging course
A nice coastal drive south from Mackays Hotel in Wick is Golspie Golf Club. Founded in 1889, it offers gorgeous sea and mountain views for players to enjoy. Spanning a total of 6,021 yards, the course draws inspiration from the work of James Baird, who tweaked it in 1926. Many regard it as some of the best golfing available in the Highlands, and it should definitely be on your to-visit list.
We had a much needed break for 4 nights last week at Mackays in Wick The decent sized apartment was perfect for us and our two dogs and it was warm, safe and an excellent base for exploring Caithness. The Hotel is very well organised with regard to Covid restrictions, but this does not spoil the warm and friendly atmosphere and the owners are superb hosts. Breakfast is really tasty and served efficiently and the food in the restaurant is impressive, best polished off with a local dram from the bar
The Clubhouse Bar
A welcoming bar is waiting for all players at the end of their day. It offers a selection of drinks to either toast to their success or commiserate the unfortunate way the ball landed. Wifi is also available here – just ask the staff for the password.
